Grovfjord Mek. Verksted 2.0 AS joins HNDIC

HNDIC is pleased to welcome Grovfjord Mek. Verksted 2.0 AS (GMV) as a member. The Norwegian shipyard brings more than a century of maritime experience from Grovfjord in Northern Norway, with strong expertise in shipbuilding, vessel servicing, repairs and conversions.

Since 1999, the shipyard has developed and built more than 165 vessels, around 150 of which have been delivered to the aquaculture industry. Over the years, GMV has been an early innovator in vessel concepts and technological solutions. The shipyard’s achievements include the world’s first:

  • Ambulance vessel designed to carry an ambulance vehicle on deck

  • Fully electric workboat for the aquaculture industry

  • Battery-electric litter collection vessel, developed for the Port of Oslo

All disciplines are handled in-house at GMV, from design and engineering to production and completion. This enables the shipyard to oversee the entire construction process, from the initial concept and detailed design to the finished vessel, at its own facilities in Grovfjord.

The shipyard’s modern facilities include five production halls. Together with its skilled workforce, these facilities enable GMV to have up to ten vessels under construction at the same time.

In addition to newbuilds, GMV offers a wide range of services for existing vessels, including servicing, maintenance, repairs and conversions.

Strengthening HNDIC’s maritime and industrial competence

Maritime capability is a key part of industrial resilience in the High North. With GMV on board, HNDIC strengthens the cluster’s competence in shipbuilding, vessel technology, electrification, maintenance and practical maritime solutions for demanding northern conditions.

GMV brings hands-on industrial capacity, long maritime experience and a strong track record of innovation from Northern Norway. This makes the company a valuable contribution to HNDIC’s work to build stronger defence, security and industrial cooperation across the High North.

HNDIC looks forward to a strong and long-term collaboration with GMV, and to following the company’s continued development.
